Always Blissful Mother
by Kamlalakanta Chakrabarti
Mother, you’re always blissful.
You charmed destructive Shiva,
you dance in your own joy,
and clap your hands to keep time.
O Elemental, Eternal One!
Your form is empty space,
yet the moon adorns your brow.
Where did you get your garland of severed heads,
before the universe came into being?
You are the operator,
and we nothing but machines
that run by your rule.
We stay where you put us,
and say what you make us say.
Cursing you, O Destructive One,
restless Kamlalakanta says:
With the sword in your hand
you’ve slaughtered my faith
together with my disbelief.
The ground is damp with liquid marrow—
Skeletal ghouls with sunken eyes
jostle and elbow—
looking furtively around them
extinguishing the fires
with gleeful hearts
they eat half-burned corpses—
There, in that menacing forest
holding fire in his hand
dances our beautiful lord.

OM NAMAH SHIVAYA
Namaste, friends! I’d like to present an opportunity for us to come together as a single body:
For the rest of the month of August, anyone who makes a donation of any size to help Send Nandi to India will receive a physical hold-it-in-yr-hands-and-smile world pulse tumblr post in the mail!
I think this could be a really fun way for us to connect as a community of spiritual beings. When you receive your personalized postcard w/ relevant quote (much like the majority of my posts here), you could even scan and post it here on tumblr - or just hoard its beauty and wisdom for yourself. ;)
Simply email your mailing address to nandikesha (at) gmail (dot) com once you’ve made your donation and I will put you on the list of people I will be sending postcards to from India.
It is often hard for me to ask for help, and while I do not want to be a source of annoyance on your dashboard, I really do need your support to make this pilgrimage possible. If even half of you choose to donate just $5, I know that I would my reach my goal of going to India, walking “In the Footsteps of Ma,” and bringing all of you along with me via my yatra website.
Thank you for reading this and for all donations received thusfar!
Love,
Nandi
